Thanks to our God who always provides and guide me thru' the past year. It was not easy to be a mom but I'm sooooo happy to hv Yeuk Yin in my life. Everything abt her is so amazing and blessed.

7th Anniversary

Today's our 7th anniversary. We celebrated it on Thursday night. Thanks Ben for recommending the restaurant. It was a nice place, quiet environment.

The last 7 years was a wonderful time in my life, with Hin ran into my life to experience the ups and downs. We tied the knots and now we have Phebe. These are all grace from God.

Injection Day

My BB has much new experience today: Injection, Fever and Medication.

She cried very very loud when the needle touch her little thigh but stop right away when the doc gave her sweet medicine. Haha~

However, she tried a totally different taste when she took the fever syrup. Anthony refused to taste the syrup but we all assumed it's bitter, given my BB's weird facial expression.

BB is now 7 wks old and we are getting used to each other. She finally has a name - 黎約妍 . This is to remember God's unconditional covenant made to us, remind us to keep this promise/ belief and our expectation to BB to be a clever and pretty gal. (Hee hee, seems like this is a high expectation to her coz' she's soooooo o naughty!) She is a BB who likes eating but not sleeping. Carrying a 10 lb BB begins to be a tiring job now, esp she always asks for carrying.

Although it's very tiring to wake up a couple of times at night time, I always feel happy to see her innocent face. Children are really lovable in everyone's sight.

Lai BB almost a month old now. My home HAS CHANGED A LOT since she's born and I've used a lot of effort to get used to this, both physically, emotionally and mentally.

BB always demand to eat. She does not like sleeping. (too bad!) => We didn't have good sleep at mid-night!!! Although it's kinda exhausting and 無耐 when she keeps on crying, 但當見到佢笑 or 叫,就會有無限欣慰,亦會很感恩,因為從pregnant 到 surgery 到現在,神都保守我和BB. BB's safe delivery and good health 不是必然的.

I've gone thru' a number of 一生之最:

1. Most frightened - waiting outside the surgery room ALONE, waiting for the 麻醉師打完針(用力用到腳都痺), my doc asked for the forceps ,"快D! 快D!", but no one gave it to her after a long while... (Thankful that I know God's with me during these moments and my BB gave me 最大的勇氣去get thru!)
2. Most 畢生難忘 with Anthony - hearing my BB's first cry (apart from our wedding oath), first sight on our baby, prayer with Hin after coming out from the surgery room.
3. Most boring - staying at home (except going to doc appt) for a WHOLE month to milk the BB.
4. Most "fruitful" diet - 全雞宴 3 meals a day, for a WHOLE month
5. Most exhausted nights - woke up 3, 6, 9am...etc

and of coz'
6. Most painful - the wound, the sleepless night after the surgery...

March 14 My BB's birthday !

Give thanks to the Lord and our dear family who support us always, my BB came to this world on the 14th safely. Her father mentioned her first greeting to this world was "very loud" in the surgery room.

The decision was made just within a few hrs yesterday that we gave up natural delivery. With my family's support (esp Hin), although I can stay try to use induction but there's no guarantee that I can make it given BB's big size (7.7lbs), not ideal 宮頸 situation and dunno how long it's gonna wait during the 陣痛. Anywayz, we put these onto our Heavenly Father and He would open the right path to us.

My high blood pressure is bothering me so much these days. Plus a little bit nervous, I couldn't sleep at night, suffer from serious headache and sooo tired. My husband always need to clam me for not being mad at the maid, o/w BP raise again! Anywayz, Just a few more hrs to go and we can see our little bb..ha~

Had High Tea w/ Doris last Sat.

Finally, my maid has come and I can take some rest, do more exercise in preparation of bb's come out. It's really a very long waiting period - 37 wks of waiting. Suggested by the doctor, I need to walk a lot everyday. Yesterday, I walked for 1.5hr. Hope that this can help a smoother and quicker labor.

Watched "shopaholic" last night and it was quite funny! Gotta seize the chance to go out w/ Hin.

Valentine's Dinner

My husband and I celebrated the day on Wednesday to avoid the crowded places + the unnecessary spendings. We had dinner at Cafe Milano at Fortress Hill. The food was nice, the places was very quiet. And most important, it's of great value given the qualify of food. (I like the soft bread and the pumklin soup most. Not too sweet and solid.

Devotion Sharing - Phil 4:1-9

Verse 4-6 are very familiar to us:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! ...... Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,, present your requests to God...will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

This is a good reminder that we should learn to be rejoice no matter what situation we are in - by praying hard and rely on God.

Then it's another familiar verse 8:

"..whatever is true, whatever is noble,.. right, ... pure, ... lovely, .. admirable - .. excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."

I think only when we firstly throw away our worries and our personally stuff (like daily work, goals which make us self-centered), and rely totally on God, we can have "extra capacity" to think of those true and good things from God. Then we can rejoice in Christ (it's like a cycle), got motivated and live for God.

For the past 7 months, my mind was usu. occupied with the baby stuff: Prepare this and that, how to take care of my own (like what to eat, plenty of rest, where to go), read books and spending time w/ the baby..etc. Really need to learn to cast everything to God and spare my mind to focus back on God. Sometimes, it would be very worrying about my girl's health n development, labour process and future but Father I know you would provide everything and I dun have to bother.

B/S, I'm so sorry that I can't spend time w/ u guys in f/p coz' of my very limited energy level but my mind is still w/ u all, thru' prayers.

Finally, there comes to big holiday! I'll take leave on 初四-初五 and so got a 9-day holiday, Yeah! It's a good chance to rest and recover - hv been sick for 2wks....

Thanks God that in the last check up, the baby's position is better now since last check and I need to "behave" 10 more days, be careful not to move too much. After this critical 4 wks, I can be free! ( in terms of body movement ) God do listen to our prayers.

Year 2008 is another yr full of God's grace, although there had been very painful / tough moments. (Yes, being a Christian does not mean you dun hv bad things but God has assured that He is w/ me and I dun hv to be afraid! and he's carrying me thru' all these!)

A few specific items to give thanks:
1. Work - a great team to work with - 4 smart and energetic young men + a very understanding boss in my old team and a very nice new dept now!

2. Church - a very rewarding serving role in f/p. Seems like I didn't do much but God has made it grow, both in size and bonding. Thx my dear b/s for your support!

3. Personal - God has given me and Hin a very lovely gift. She's now almost 28 wk old and I got to know that she weigh 3 lbs now!! Very healthy little baby! Yeah!!!!

New Office

Office moved to Wan Chai since Dec and now I have a new teammates/ boss and working environment. Things seems okay except workload is still a lot plus I have to walk uphills for 10mins every morning, which is heavy for a mom carrying a 26wk- old-baby.

I have to push hard on 11pm sleeping schedule so that my baby will keep this habit when she comes out.

Father, need to rely on you since I have a lot of limitations physically, emotionally and family issues plus daily work. Amen.

Really? This conclusion may just come up too early when we put our perspective from God at Eternity. When the judgment day comes, nobody can stand in front of Him(everyone is a sinner, no matter "big" or "small" sin) , including myself. How can I comment on others' "behaviors" while I'm also one of them?我沒有資格.

我是神用他兒子Jesus宝血重價買贖回來的,他這样愛我,難道他会對我不好嗎? Have Faith in Him!

況且人所謂的快牙,成功,是建基在你有多少財產($$$,洋房,名車),career(年薪??),是否professional qualification? 一个Financail Crisis, these things may worth just a piece of paper! 如果一个人是從一張"resume"去measure, 人的價值未免太冷漠,膚淺了!

I would rather treasure the time and relationship with my family, friends and most important with my Heavenly Father who cares me so much, who is the only one capable to fill up my emptiness inside my heart, for this is far more eternal, precious and solid in my life.

人若賺得全世界,卻賠上自己的生命又有什麼意思呢?

Got a meaningful story in sermon today:

A hair dresser talked to his client, "I dun believe in God. If He exists, why are there so many ppl suffering different pain?"

The men did not response to his comment and remain silent. When he finished and opened the door to leave, he saw a person with dirty and long long hair across the street. Running back to the hair dresser, he said, "Hair dresser does not exist on earth."

The hair dress was astonished, claiming that he was the hair dresser and he was there!

The men asked, "if you were the hair dress, then how come the person across street would have not have clean and tidy hair?"

"Just coz' these ppl do not come to ask for my help. That's why they have dirty and long hair", said by the hair dresser.

"That is the point! People suffer does not mean that God does not exist. It coz' they have not asked for Jesus' help."

I believe God always welcome us to come to Him and taste for Him goodness.

It's almost 20 weeks now and my preg life is beginning to settle. I'm learning to rely on God each day to handle my daily work with my very limited physical strength. Getting tired very easily and it's very rush go get to bed by 11pm. Hee hee, my life become very heathly and rountine now. More quiet/ relax moment indeed.

I begin to feel my baby's movement in my tummy now. He/she responsed to the father's talk last night! Interesting! (The father was very proud of this!!!) Baby, I can't wait to know whether you are my prince or princess.

實在要將呢件事記下來,感謝天父聽禱告,原本一直擔心自已身體不好(連醫生也說沒有這樣容易),未必可以,但神祢卻賜了呢個生命給我們,而且除了tired一點以外也不算太辛苦! 主!感謝祢!

I'm also very proud to be part of the volunteer team, pals you are all great to work w/!! I'm also very thankful that Father, you've dedicated your dear servants, Principal Chiu and Tat "shu" who have been serving you in this ministry for 10+ yrs loyally. I deeply touched by this (they are old men but they did a lot of things for us!!!)

I also thank God for giving me a chance to share my belief w/ them. Father thank you the things I have and thanks for the exceptional love - we love because you first love us.

I think I need to prepare for Jesus' coming back at any time. Apart from the many daily tasks, gotta stay focus on what God has given me my role (like a JD thing from His Kingdom. Haha I've recently made up a JD for a summer intern and myself...) Hm. I think it would be sth like below:

1. To perform daily devotion and Bible reading
2. To pray for my family for their belief
3. To encourage me and my husband's spiritual growth (it felt gd we read the Bible together last night!)
4. To grow with b/s in wonderful fruits
5. To be a good witness at work (this includes being a hardworking employee, to finish off the exams although I dun see why it's worthy for me to spend 6yrs+ to pursue the whole thing. I keep on asking God but He told me that this is what He has given me and so I HAVE to finish it and wait for what's next He planned for me.), and
6. To manage of my health, time and $$.

I asked my husband if I will have a crown when I see Jesus..and his answer was...

Had a discussion w/ colleagues on the materialism in this rich world. If a Christian is going after the brands and luxuries, is that a pblm?

I was glad that I presented my idea (I was the only Christian in the group) - if you pursue materialistic life >> God, that will be a pblm.

Somehow the discussion went to the "one-tenth" donation. Again, I am thankful that I could testify for God. Cheers.

The devotion material mentioned a farmer who mourned due to the devastation made by a volcano explosion. He lost his farm, home and basically everything. Reference to the snow storm in China, how did I feel? Just a piece of news? I did worry about my two friends (made at the Cornerstone camp) coz' they should be heading back to their hometown from GZ. But seems like my heart cannot really feel the pain they are facing.... How come my thoughts are just occupied by my own tasks, which will fade away ultimately.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matt 6:33-34

Father pls lead me to the green pasture so that I can rest in you and lead me to follow your righteousness path, despite the many sidetracks and small tasks in daily life. Amen.

Being the last day of 2007, below are the plentiful gifts which my Heavenly Father gave me:

1. A sweet and smooth transition married life w/ Mr. Lai. Life is very busy but thanks to my husband w/ unlimited love and patience, we began to know each other's habit alot.

This is the steak my husband made me tonight - full of love!!

2. Work - another extremely crazy work life but thanks God that I have really smart and good colleagues which are lovable.

3. Family - my mom, my father my sister and brother are so good to me.. and they are getting better.

4. Health - despite the fact that I got sick at least once per month, I'm thankful that those are just small disease, at least not harmful. Now, gotta treasure every moment I have and do sth really meaningful so that I won't waste every single minute I "earned".

5. Cell - I've got a wonderful cell in Timothy. I love you all - brothers and sisters!

Today is the the day I married Mr. Lai for 10 months. I always feel that time really flies and the past months were not easy... so much to do but it's really happy to live w/ Anthony.

I'm on my study leaves these days. Originally I planned to go back to office at 9am-9.30am for a con-call w/ NY. Thx God that the guy cancelled the call and now I can stay home and wake up late.

A very familiar verse which almost everybody can recite! However, how many of us can really do it?

In my mindset, I think I can manage to understand but it's not easy to apply on every single daily tasks - as smallest as "Can I finish this calculation by tomorrow so that I can discuss w/ my boss tmr?"

As serious as when will my family accepted Jesus Christ? It do worries my a lot, sometimes. Father pls again assure me w/ your promise and let me understand this from my bottom of my heart, not just mentally but full-faithfully. Not just "Ah Q" "spiritual" but really as a faith from what we have been gone thru' during the life we walked together for the past 10+ years. And of coz' to bring it to action!

After picking up a NDS on the bus some time ago, I picked up a cell phone at a min-bus yesterday. Hee hee, it was an old model Motorola. Gee, how come I'm always so lucky? I have thought of leaving the cell phone as if I had not been noticed. At last, I decided to bring it home and wait for the owner calling back!

She lost the phone after going to church on the way home. I think it's God who used me to give her back the phone. A very nice arrangement, Father!

What about the NDS? I really look forward to "adopting" that machine if no one reports lost to the Police ..hoho - so greedy!

Yup, she left for NY after U graduation for her medi study and I lost contact w/ her somehow (actually being too lazy) but I still recall the days we went to class and had dinner w/ Alean and Jacqueline.

A big warning to me! I woke up this morning, pretty tired and still feeling sick (hv been sick for the past few days!) Worrying about work and study, my head is filled up w/ the earthly tasks, not mentioned about "how to please Him"... (my new colleagues work so hard that they need to take taxi home for a few nights, you can imagine how busy and pressure we are.)

Recently I have been thinking of how my life to honour God, praise?

Again, it's the priority of my life. Gotta reset things all over again for there's one day I hv to stand in front of the Thrown and Jesus will count my fruit of Spirit - hm..no love, no patience, not much joy (I always forgot that Lord is w/ us and why still not feeling happy?), no peace, no ???..OMG! "big wok".

If I have real faith (i.e not judge things by our logical common sense / sight), there no more need to think too much about the earthly problems/ difficutlies/ worries...

Sept 10 - Inside Out

Our cell started to use this book for our guided group sharing session bi-weekly. Just read a few pages, we've gone thru' a few interesting topics:-

1. Eager for change / transform / following Christ's standard: seems like we all want to change but our body is weak. Dun give up pal! Our Heavenly Father has grace upon us.

2. Our purpose of life - my first questions when I was in form one: If my life is just like everyone else: born, grow up, work hard at school, work extra hard at work, marriage/family, worry about your children, sick, getting old and then die. What's the point to making an effort? Why do I need to follow this routine? Will I feel happy on this life path? Is there sth else which is more worthwhile for me to pursue?

3. 10 min true happiness? I'd like to use the word JOY instead of happiness since JOY is sth come from the heart but happiness is sth dependent on environment/things. When we grow up, we begin to look at how much achievement we get, value from the world such as fame, authority, house, car, degree/ master title..etc are the things we being measured as "successful". However, have ppl ever thought that in order to chase these things, one gotta sacrifice a lot? Does it really worthwhile to go for it? Are these things even more important than our own health, our relationship w/ the beloved ones and the love from our Heavenly Father (and Eternal Life)? I felt even more lonely, empty and aimless eveytime i finished one exam. Felt depressed after a karaoke night. I'm not saying that I did not enjoy the time / the satisfication after some advancement, just that these kinds of happiness cannot really fill up the "hole" deep down in my heart.... which is meant to be filled by Jesus.

Jesus said," I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the full."

Out of my expectation, the hotel is very clean, spacious and nice. There is a chinese garden (those with bridge and small lake - nice garden view from my room) No wonder the group is highly ranked. Daily rate is RMB 800, which is reasonable.

Just that there's nth specail in ZhongShan - except we tried a delicious meal at a famous reataurant.

When I'm mad w/ people or complaining, need to think that I'm also a sinner. For God loves them also, how could I not forgive them?

Macau Trip Aug 25 - 26

Had a relax trip at Macau with Hin this weekend. Nice portugal dinner - sirloin steak wrapped with bacon.

We didn't do much but walked around and ate and met Saga. Really admire him for taking a 3 month no-paid leave and spend time in short term mission in Macau. Gotta give up alot of money! But I can tell he's really very happy - God has rewarded him for what he pays. First time to the "black beach"! intesting that the sand are very fine.

Book

This is the book I shared during the cell's Cheung Chau camp. It's a really good book. The authur is a Law degree graduate from Yale and works as a journalist at the Chicago Tribune. The book is like his spiritual journal converted from an atheist to a Christ followers. The book started off w/ the challenge "Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God?"

A really "thinking" book to lead you re-think your belief! And as you know, I dun like reading but this is really one of the books I DO finish (a long time ago, no more time to do this luxury thing!)...w/ 350+ pages!

Anthony asked me whether I work for earning a living OR I live to work. A tough question coz' sometimes, I don't know if I really like my current job. Somehow I've lost the passion since graudation. Too busy, too "inhuman", less and less friendships..etc. BUT, working enviornment is like that. The only way is to take it and recall that God has a mission on me in the working place. Then, work become much more meaningful than just going after the title or money.

We came across this topic last Sat - discussing on how much is enough for our family should we die.. 500K? 1 mil? 2.5mil?

A frd of my bro passed away, leaving a wife and child and a small amt of insurance sum assured. I ask Anthony how much is enough, and I told him that I believe no matter how much is left, God will provide sufficiently, in all aspect. So, no need to worry too much.. Though, need to reduce extra / unnessary spending so that I can use money wisely and save!

While more and more ppl are getting insurance coverage (in all aspects) to boost up the insurance industry stock price, (thanks to that, otherwise I won't hv a job!), wonder if ppl are caring about their eternal life "coverage".

The Bible says, God gives us protection, anytime, anywhere. More importantly, we are granted eternal life if we believe in Jesus. I shall put more focus on the everlasting life in the Heaven.. like what would Jesus say when I meet Him at the day of judgement.

Had a few interviews w/ the fresh graduates this week and realized that finding a situable candidate is like picking boyfriends/ husbands. Not only you are looking for academic, backgrounds and personalities are very important as well..

I recall Jesus says we should not judge by appearance but inner qualities.. Definitely not easy to do in business world. I will try though.l

Joint the prayer mtg on Thurs night w/ three brothers in Timothy. Originally I did not want to go coz' i was not feeling well. Thanks God who brought me there - it's always good to pray together. And everytime I left the chruch, my spirit got re-newed, my footsteps became lighter.

It was a nice trip in a sense that it's been a year since we met last year. Very little time to chat though.. I pray that God takes care of them and let them get to know Him more...

I've also got a chance to meet w/ other brothers and sisters from NPAC and other Alliance churches. Really admire you guys to spend the days w/ the kids, to share w/ them our belief and experience in work.

The kids (not kids actually coz' they've already graduated. but they are really cute and naive.) are very thankful for we to visit them and Cornstone to sponsor their university / high school study. I'm really touched by them sincere thankful heart and the strong mind they procure in achieving their career goal. I'm also very touched by the volunteers, esp the two highly respected elders (70 yrs old) who take care of these children since all these years. May God bless them.

10 Year Anniversary

While the Hong Kong people are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of SAR gov't, I'd like made a small lookback on my past 10 years.

My family left HK on June 30, 1997 for Toronto, together w/ the British government. So July 1, 2007 has a double meaning to me. It's a time to remember - having a new life! Thanks God for his blessing and provision, I've got a chance to receive education in Toronto and my life changed since then.

The 5 year life in Canada enriched my life, both spiritually and intellectually. I had a very fruitful church life, friends and family life are memorable to me. I believe my God provided me with many lessons in preparing me for the next 5 years life in HK.

My another 5 years was spent in HK - working crazily. There is nothing much besides working + studying. But I think I really treasure the life spent w/ my parents and family friends. After a struggle at church, I finally settled down.. Again, thanks God for leading me to this so far in my career and church life.

One of the most important thing in this 10 year is that I've run into a charming guy! Yes, I'm very thankful to God that He bring this guy to me.

The today's me is the MEs in the past. I hope that my coming 10 years will be another wonderful and meaningful milestone, not only career but as a Christian, daughter and wife.

Last Fri, a friend from Japan brought us a dessert wine. We opened it immediately to try the taste. It took us more than 45 mins to open the wine, with 4 guys' effort+ a number of equippments . Why so long? Coz' we used a old fashioned "T-shape" wine opener. The cork stuck at the wine opening and the guys had to "pull" out the cork by hand! Lucky that the bottle didn't got crashed or sth. After all, someone figured out that there's an instruction on how to open the wine with a few Chinese words (of coz' the whole thing is in Japanese), "besdies T-shape opener".

Sometimes, we think we are old enough not to read the instructions...Opps!

Haft Year Anniversary!

Today's a special day of my life - I've married Mr. Lai for half a year already. Can't believe time pass sooooo fast and I've already "transformed" to a "slide": doing the housework, cooking, doing my "monitoring" job..haha~

My dearly husband brought me a gift who cheer me up - Ipod Nano!!! I am so amazed that he noticed I actually like hearing to music.. He's so sweet.

Thank you for taking care of me for the past 6 months. I enjoy the life w/ you and will learn to be a better wife (and to be more comfortable w/ this title)! Thank you Father for giving me a partner to grow up w/ and to learn from.

Peter Pan - Flying back to the old days!

It was a cool performance esp the dancing part - Peter Pan danced particularly well. I felt like I was a child too! (sitting there w/ Peter Pan flying above the audience panel in a "bubble" world, throwing away all the earthy worries and enjoy the fairy dance.)

To have a pure heart to "believe in fairy"... I wished I had a child heart to believe in Jesus in whatever circumstances.

Work Like Crazy

Got off at ten's and eleven's pm these days, I felt so exhausted not only due to the long hours but also the unreasonable requests from the boss. Man, I have two hands only, how can I manage to do so many tasks and everything due today, tomorrow and Friday? Things get worse when everyone calls and asks for help, my subordinates, my bossES, heads of other dept, my colleagues who do not want to go ahead without my "review" on the numbers..My boss "checked in" my workstation every half an hour. I cannot reject them but to help, in the middle of my "arithmetic sea"... Better put on a tag in front of my desk "Do NOT Disturb!"

I was so upset during lunch and I told my husband that I'm so "咀" "song", I dun want to bother anymore. I told God, "you put me in such a situation that I can do nothing but give up, unless you are really what the Bible mentions, "God just says a word and the world was created..." I surrendered."

(Pls refer to Genesis 1...eg "And God said," Let there be light.," and there was light. Gen 1:3)

Things changed after lunch. Suddenly, my colleague offered me a helping hand, which totally out of my excpectation. At least, someone's fighting the battle with me tonght. I feel better. Thanks Father for your faithfulness and answering my prayer. You've proven to be THAT wonderful!

Korean Movie

I've watched the recent Korean movie about a fat girl who turns into a Cinderalla by plastic surgery from top to bottom. A funny movie though.

As a second thought, we are more or less the same as her. She pays a high price in the "transformation", the pain, the wound, disappear for a year . Now she gets what she wants, becoming a hot singer but lost her own indentity, deny her friends and father. I somehow think that I have paid a high price to earn someone's praise, to do what the world values and lost my own self! Father, pls guide me w/ your Words so that I won't walk the wrong path and do sth really meaningful.

Morning Prayer Meeting

I attended the prayer meeting which started at 7am last Tue. It's a breakthrough for me to get up so early in the morning and to worship God in the morning. I have to admit that I couldn't fully concentrate on the prayers coz' my heart was fully stuffed w/ work. However, at least I gotta gain energy from the Heavenly Father before the start of the day. The rest of the day was - wonderful!
